India Hydrological Outlook

The India Hydrological Outlook (IHO) presents the latest monthly status and one-month forecast for key hydro-meteorological variables — rainfall, temperature, soil moisture, runoff and evapotranspiration — each as a percentile of the historical record. Every dashboard below shows the current month, the four preceding months, the forecast month, the same month last year, and the historically driest and wettest analogues.

How to read these dashboards

Each panel maps a variable as a percentile of its historical distribution for that calendar month. Low percentiles (toward red) mean the variable is well below its typical value for the month; high percentiles (toward blue) mean well above. The large panel at the top-left is the most recent observed month; the large panel at the lower-left is the one-month forecast. The two outlined panels show the historically driest (red outline) and wettest (blue outline) analogue months for context.
