This Week's Summary
Large parts of peninsular and central India continue to show rainfall deficits as the pre-monsoon period advances. The Combined Drought Index indicates severe-to-extreme conditions across interior Maharashtra, northern Karnataka, Telangana and parts of Rajasthan, while improved soil moisture has eased conditions over the eastern Gangetic plains. Reservoir storage in several western and southern basins remains below the ten-year average, sustaining short-term agricultural stress.
