Dryness Categories
The India Drought Monitor uses a five-category system to identify the unusualness of dry conditions. The categories range from D0 (Abnormally Dry) through D4 (Exceptional Drought). Each weekly map represents an integrated assessment combining objective indicators and on-the-ground observations from a network of local experts.
