Dryness Categories

The India Drought Monitor uses a five-category system to identify the unusualness of dry conditions. The categories range from D0 (Abnormally Dry) through D4 (Exceptional Drought). Each weekly map represents an integrated assessment derived from objective hydro-meteorological indicators (precipitation, soil moisture, runoff and related variables).
